What’s special about St Luke’s?

Richard, our new Rector writes:

“It’s mid-March as I write and I’ve only been here for a couple of months.  In my conversations with the church family I am asking everyone the same question:  ‘Why St. Luke’s?’

The answer is universally the same: ‘It’s so friendly and has become like family’ is the kind of experience I am hearing. I asked a young couple why they attended. “Everyone is so supportive and my child now has over a dozen grandparents.”  A senior citizen, who has been to many churches, described St. Luke’s to me as ‘the friendliest church she has ever been in’.

I have seen this friendly and welcoming dynamic with my own eyes.  St. Luke’s is a special place. Everyone is welcomed and accepted. Everyone seeks to support each other and care for the community. There is a real heart for mission; to share God’s love with each other and the community in word and action. The place is fizzing with ideas! Our annual meeting at the end of February was the happiest annual meeting I have attended in over 25 years of ordained ministry. There are exciting initiatives in the pipeline.

I feel very privileged to be part of this church family.  They are a very special bunch. But don’t take my word for it. Come and see for yourself.

There will be more testimonies about what St. Luke’s means to those who attend in the weeks to come.

Thanks for reading and for visiting our site”.  : )
