The Sunday before Lent is the Transfiguration. Jesus is revealed in glory, shining brighter than the star that first led the magi to seek him at his birth. Heaven has touched Earth with an inspiring and guiding light that lives in us by the faith of Christ. As we begin our Lenten journey in the wilderness we so often live in, we remember there is a light and hope, even we cannot see it or have closed our eyes to it and turned our backs to it. When we feel lost we are not lost to God.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
