They song begins by asking “Am I born of the vine or of the thorn? Am I holden to the sky or to the storm?” We often live in cycles of drawing near to God in faith and wandering on our own paths. Abiding as members of the true and living vine or twisting our lives into a crown of thorns. Jesus is risen! The war is over! And yet, we still live in the struggle. The grace we need is still working itself out with us and in us and through us. Jesus is risen and we are still becoming. With the Spirit of hope and resurrection we still come through our own journeys of loss and sacrifice but walk that path following Jesus who leads our way to victory.
And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.
